The terms of our relationship need to be clarified.
You give me free bandwidth with no strings attached, and I take it. Stop trying to make this something it's not.

So if you **** them, is this a sort of "business-partners-with-benefits" thing?

Yes, but the benefit is a cat on a skateboard.

Between Imgur blocking most major internet forums and Dropbox dropping Public folder support, most of the images I've linked in the past 10 years are now dead.

Got a link to them blocking forums?
I was planning to try imgur the next time I had to post something. Sounds like I'll be looking into cheap alternatives. At least paid options shouldn't go away.

Just Google "Imgur forum blocked" - they went through and blocked most major forums citing some kind of ToS issue about linking signature pictures or something.
Basically as their community has developed outside of Reddit they have less of a need to grow by being a good image host and would rather harvest ad revenue from views on their own app, so they wiped out the major hotlink bandwidth hogs.

I may have to resort to using Flickr, but I don't want all the forum images to show up in my flickr feed. Hmm.

I used to use Photobucket. Do they still resize images? That's what got me to dump them back in the day. Made text from a smartphone screenie look all potato.

Imgur changed its website back, so apparently I wasn't the only one pissed off by their new direction.

What specifically changed? It was quite a while back that they hid the "share links" under several clicks, where initially they were right out front. And instead of "upload image" they called it "create post."

The mobile web version was (and is again) pretty straightforward. Once a pic is uploaded, there's a menu front-and-center where you can get an address with IMG tags.
The reformat dropped the menu, and I wasn't able to massage the address it gave me to resolve as an IMG.
