Crap! I just got an email from apple saying "I am sorry but we will be unable to ship your purchase today...it will now be shipped on or before 10/3/03.....mannnnn!

I was so excited to be getting that tracking number today and BOOM...I hate waiting....this is almost as bad as when I failed my drivers test and had to wait 1 week before I could take it again!

I think some of the "order delayed" emails were sent out in error (I can't remember where I read that.... Macintouch?). Especially if you already have a tracking number, I'd sit tight and keep checking it.

its not official, yours will probably ship sometime tonite, same thing happened to me yesterday (oringal ship date of 9/23) at 6pm i get the email same as you stating 9/30, then at 5am this morning it ships. Relax, i called apple that email you got is generated so that you know what is going on at the end of the day you expected it to ship. It covers their asses' explaining a possible delay, but it doesnt mean anything we didnt know, it just means their estimate was a few hours off.

I hope its not for real, but according to MacPrices.com, the apple store shows they are currently out of the 1.25 with a wait of 5-7 bus days....you are sying they might ship after all?

Well I also received an email from apple stating that my order won't ship until 10/03. I ordered a 1.25 15" alu stock configuration partly to speed the shipping along. btw this was the second email, mine was supposed to ship yesterday.

Oh well

Unlike most people I didn't buy my AlBook (15" 1.25GHz 5400 drive) on the 16th. Ordered on the 20th... it still says the 26th for shipping no e-mail yet. My iPod however, which was supposed to ship today, now says the 29th. But if the whole "a few hours off" things is correct, then it should ship tomorrow... hopefully.

I ordered the stock 15" 1.25 on the 22nd and the ship date has slowly worked its way up to 10/03. Then I got an email saying they weren't going to be able to ship even by then, and to call apple to confirm if I still wanted the thing. On the phone, apple said they actually were still estimating a ship date of 10/03, but wouldn't promise anything.

I live in Jacksonville, florida and annoyingly enough the nearest apple stores are at least several hours away in either orlando, tampa or atlanta.
