jesus that's hideous. but a complete job nonetheless. I suppose he achieved the old theater look with that quite well, but i think i'd be too distracted by the room to watch the movie
I'd love to have a room just like that, though, minus all of the ornamental decoration. The jack box in the floor, the snack bar, and the 'media closet' are all great though. i wonder how much that cost him?

I have a home theater setup in my living room. A Sharp projector to a screen over the fireplace. With 3 Bose ceiling speakers and one woofer. Nothing that opulent planned!

Did you take a look at the rest of this guy's site? He owns 4 Ferraris. Who is this guy anyway?
The thetre is pretty hideous with all of the gold mouldings and the heavy red curtains. I do like the dome and the ceiling treatments. The columns are horrible. I love the seating and the component room though.

Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

The amount of stuff this guy has in his house is just sick...
He's got a fcuking generator for gods sake, so he can still use his tacky home cinema when the powers out!

It's nice to know Saddam's interior decorator could find work after the war.
That is the gaudiest setup I ever saw. Really ludicrous. But I'm sure it looks and sounds great if the pillars don't fk it all up.

Heh heh - good point. Those pillars (ugly too) probably do mess up the sound a bit.
I wish he would post his movie collection too. I'm interested to see why he needed to spend so much money.
Oh yeah, almost forgot - his remote control sucks. Touch screen remotes are awful - you have to look at it to use it every time. A good remote should be able to be used without looking at them. Even cheap $100 RCA TVs have better remotes.

yeah but can they control several components at once? turn on the projector, DVD player receiver switch over to the DVD input, turn on the power amps, dim the lights, and open the curtains with one button?
its a nice remote if you need all that crap, most people don't. Also i am sure that you will become familiar with the UI so you won't have to look at it.
As for the home theater, his hardware is respectable, but anything is if you sink that kinda cash into it, but i wouldn't have gotten a few items he got, much of it was over kill and a few if items are really weak. those subs for instance, there great for music but don't get down low enough for great LFE, seeing that he had tons of space to place hardware 12 IB subs would have really rocked his world.
Also the bass shakers are nice

It sounds good, and cost $130 bucks. It's good enough for now. Kinda like your POS car is good enough for now.

No, but several other ones with real buttons can do that.

The screen is flat. There is no tactile feel to it so it'll always be hit and miss except for buttons on the corners of the screen.
However, to each, his own. That's just my opinion.

Jealous ? No my friend, not at all. I just can't stand tasteless people. And tasteless people are 90% of the time people that we call "nouveau riche" over here.

If his goal was to make something that looked like a page out of the 1960's... job well done. I would rather have seen a really nice, modern looking, home theater system.
Surround Sound, sound dampening walls, modern seats, high tech rack mount system etc. etc.

Although its not my style, I think its pretty cool. Seriously, I'd much rather watch a movie like "ben hur" or someother badass old school movie in that type of home theater than a mac-snob home theater with ikea furniture.

Just found his movie calendar...
http://theater.stevejenkins.com/articles/calendar.html
You'd think with all that cash, and such a hi-tech setup he'd have watched some decent films...
Or some films that would really show off his surround sound.
Some of them are good, but others are pure shite..
Believe it or not, one of my favourite movies to watch with my surround sound is Robin Hood Prince of Theives! That film rocks with arrows flying everywhere! Monsters Inc is good in surround sound too.
