I have a 12" G4 iBook that's 2 1/2 years old. I know the battery's nearly dead, but the weirdest thing happened today. I was running off the battery when the indicator said it was at 49% and then the computer just shutoff like there was a power failure. I plugged it into the power adapter and started it up. The battery indicator was at 0%. It started charging but now it's at 56% and won't go above that (batter indicator in the menubar shows the power adaptor icon instead of charging icon and the power adapter's LED is green instead of amber).

I know I need a new battery but can't afford the $100 yet. Is there a way to get the battery indicator to indicate "correctly"?

Thanks!
