Yeah, that was great, especially the whole 'oh sure, let's get out our red phone and call the OSI for you, just a second' bit. (I'm paraphrasing, I was half asleep last night and will probably have to re-watch it.)

Another good episode. Weird tangent: Was it me, or did the Monarch sound off? His voice was just... weird somehow.

This episode really should have followed the one from two weeks ago directly... but I think I heard they held the one from last week as long as possible in the hopes Colbert would come to his senses. Anyway, the entire season's order has been kinda ****ed.

That said, after this week, I'm willing to move Season 3 ahead of 2.

I was wondering when you'd show yourself in this thread.

Didn't notice anything different with The Monarch's voice over here, I think you're just crazy.

As for your last statement I'd be hard-pressed to agree, but I'll admit these last 4 episodes have really upped the ante for Season 3.

Relisten to the episode. For lack of a better term his voice didn't have some of it's normal whininess, particularly for stretches in the beginning.

Edit: I put 4 episodes of Season 2 on my iPod. I think I could easily do that now with Season 3, with 3 eps to go.

I watched it again last night... looks like I missed a few things (read: the entire plot twist that will likely be used in the closer).

I really wish I knew what the Captain's problem was... He seems to have a chip on his shoulder for actions I'm not actually seeing. It makes me think something significant is going to happen to his character here soon (Dies? Arches?).

There was some really weird voice stuff in the first episode. 24 sounded like he was in an echo chamber. It was very noticeable. I think they are rushing to get some of this stuff out and don't always have the time to use proper equipment.

I think the Captain's problem is that Jonas Jr. is a dick.

On an off note, I was rewatching 20 minutes to Midnight last week, and my friend had an excellent question: What the hell happened to Rocket?

The same thing that happens to the kids on Everybody Loves Raymond. They don't show up unless they're necessary for the plot.

I'd venture (pun intended) that Rocket wasn't necessary for the episode he was in.

It's called bad writing.

(when you just use a char as a plot device AND it's so transparent)

unless it works.

Wow, what a loaded episode. Gonna need to watch that like 4 or 5 times to catch it all.

Not really funny, but really engrossing.
And the last frame reminded me of something out of a Knight Rider episode.

Staying up for a tv show???

TiVo people! TiVo! It will change your life.

At any rate, GREAT EPISODE! It had Aleister Crowley in it. Ha.

The audio was all screwed up. Between the olde tymie speakin', the super loud background music, and all the distortion effects they were using to make it seem more old fashioned... you could barely make out half of what they were saying. I also think this episode might have been sped up for time. They have done it before.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I don't watch enough tv to justify Tivo.

Yeah I found the audio a huge challenge. And I agree, this episode got chopped to bits. It easily could have a been a two parter (and sadly why shouldn't have been. Does Adult Swim somehow suffer if the season has an extra episode or two?!

The extra footage is completely unnecessary to the plot. It was funny, but I can see why they cut it.

I thought it was great. I was wondering when we would get some Brock action, and they finally fulfilled my wish.

Imagine a mixture of emotion and good sense.
Emotionally, who wants to try and reconnect with the agency that programmed their very own car to kill them.
Logically, once the agency hires three of the worlds most notable assassins to eliminate you, you've hit the point of no return.
IMHO

I think it's noted on wikipedia, that the end of the season has culminated in what is pretty much a 5 episode story arc (Tears, Lepidopterists, ORB, and the two part finale). That probably explains why my interest is flagging down the stretch.

In what will most likely be a parallel I'll regret making, this reminds me of the Family Guy where Death sprains his ankle and everyone begins to believe they're immortal. Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer have closed the season with a stern warning for the next: The rules of death still apply.

More commentary to come later. I'm running on 2 hours sleep and can barely string one coherent thought together at a time.

Fair enough. I was getting worried that some glitch in the Matrix eliminated every other VB fan on MacNN.

I've been pondering the fact that "they will never be released again." There were a few I was on the fence about that I could see myself wanting to purchase later. Seems heavy-handed.

(And for those of you who don't know, this weeks models are Jackson and Doc themselves)

Yeah, I want the Guild of Calamitous Intent shirt, but I wasn't aware of the shirt club at the time.

A lot of big cliff hangers...

24... DEAD?!?!?
HELPeR... DEAD?!?!?
Brock... Quit???
All the clones... DEAD!?!?!

The Brock thing is easy enough to fix, but I think we'll see several episodes dealing with the split. Brock on a "lost weekend" of binge drinking, women and death. The family have to try out different bodyguards (Myra? Sgt. Hatred?) HELPeR can be fixed or rebuilt. No big deal there.

As for 24... wow. Part of me thinks they have to bring him back, but I also think they just might leave him dead and have 21 go crazy and go off on his own. Maybe they can bring him back in some sort of supernatural fashion. Or have him haunt 21 like Six haunts Baltar on Battlestar Galactica.

As for the clones, well, I think they just wanted to reintroduce a sense of danger.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I just can't see them bringing back 24 after pulling the Hail Mary on the Venture Brothers for Season 2. As for H.E.L.P.er, I wouldn't be very surprised if he's done as he had a very minimal role this season. But yeah, he's the easiest to resurrect. He's essentially worthless anymore, though. I wouldn't be surprised if the dumb moppets got more screen time this season).

"You can borrow my car, but you're not going to enjoy looking for the keys."
"We're outnumbered" "Not if I get to open my Christmas presents early."
Those two lines had me laughing out loud. Especially the first one.

I didn't watch the first part when it came on and watched them both back to back last night. I really enjoyed the episodes.
