My top 3 are Warcraft 3, The Sims 2, and Doom 3, but they cost money. I highly reccomend Warcraft 3, you can get the main game and the expansion for only $30. Huge bargain. You can also play online for free on battle.net too.

Here's one... An oldy but a goody. RESCUE by Tom Spreen in 1994. One of the best Star Trek games ever made. I still have it and play it. You play a sim flying the Enterprise around planets, rescuing people, and attacking ships. Even a Borg Cube ship. Simple but great fun. It's too bad that Activision with all their resources and money forgot about the simple things.

1. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - I keep coming back over and over, both to the single player game and the multiplayer, mostly for Dueling.
2. Jedi Academy - The last of the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games, apparently.
3. Halo - Obviously I'm a FPS junkie
These three games played surprisingly well on my 17 " PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz, with much eye candy turned on as well.

My favorites in order:
1. Deus Ex (can't imagine anything ever surpassing this game)
2. Knights of the Old Republic (just finished playing it, awesome game)
3. Call of Duty (expansion pack was great too)

Top three?
- Myth II
- Unreal Tournament, the *first* one (well, I don't know if anyone's playing this anymore, hehe)
- Escape Velocity... I thought Override was the best... but Nova has a lot going for it.
DOOM III is awesome as well.

In no particular order: Deus Ex, Knights of the old Republic, Alpha Centauri - but I can agree that most games posted here are great.
It might be easier to give advice if you told us what genre you favor.

In no real order, WC3, WoW and ET.
Deus Ex would be top if I had it for my Mac, I had it on my PC before I switched!

Besides others that have been mentioned already...I really enjoyed Homeworld 2. I played the original on my PC and loved it. Homeworld 2 is even better. Easier but better.

Starcraft
Escape Velocity
I'd practically forgotten about it, but RESCUE! was an AWESOME game. I played that all the time. I wish someone would write something like it again. Paramount's eased up on it's trademark enforcement...

Wow, ask and ye shall receive. Someone wrote a Java version of Rescue...

Very nice
I love that game. I didn't know there was a new version out. Now, if only someone would make the suggested Battlestar Galactica mission.

Well I would have to put: 1. WoW - as it's the only thing I've played much in the last few months .
2. Probably still EV: Override - easily my favourite of the series. I don't have much time for Nova and its boring universe and mission strings, and although EVC really is a classic, it's a bit more limiting.
3. Difficult. I'd probably put it down to Marathon Infinity - I was just trying out the latest AlephOne release last night, and I love the fact that it's reasonably easy to beat the 'final' level starting right from it, good old SPNKR .
Also of note: WarCraft III, and recently El Ballo.
On the Classic side of things: WarCraft II, Bonkheads Deluxe, SimCity 2000 and MacSyndicate - possibly one of the most fun of its time.

I would think the most popular game is trying to get Windows to run on an Intel iMac.
