Finally I upped a screenshot of my Mac OS X desktop so I can show it to you. I arranged my alias to apps in folders, then I put them on the dock, so the left part of the dock is only filled with docklings and running apps. I may change, but I like it right now. Also the wallpaper is inspiring and gives me warm and fuzzies like Kosmo have with his wife and Aqua

ps. i simply couldn't accept the disintegration of quality when I compressed the image. sorry. and, that AIM icon is actually a link to Fire.
Hey, two questions -- where can I get the background? And what is the App that you are using in the upper right? Just wondering...

eevyl -- you may want to post a warning for all the kiddies and people surfing from work... not that it's porno (IMHO), but it is nudity the same...

Actually SmileyDude, it's not porno, it's a promotional poster for Elizabeth Adren cosmetics if I recall correctly.

How do I know that you ask?

Simple, my girlfriend ALWAYS takes me along whenever she is buying cosmetics (wants me to help her choose the color), and well, it's hard not to notice it...

eevyl, where did you get it from? Could you post it somewhere please?

Dennis:

Here is a link to the desktop image I am using. The application that is in the upper right is MenuStrip which has been updated to accept plugins (although there aren't any third party plugins out yet).

This file is only 80Kb.

http://homepage.mac.com/fallentree/.Pictures/pacman.jpg

ps. Don't ask me why, but I couldn't get the Grab .tiff of my desktop (posted earlier) to compress and retain the quality of the image. I used Graphic Converter and Photoshop to no avail. I knew it was weird, but didn't really want to troubleshoot it. Hence, the 1.8Mb link.

Thanks SonicBlue, but can you send me or post the link to the picture like it was in your snapshot? I mean with the background grid, that looks really nice.

Now for the next question, did you get Gimp to compile under X? (It looks like the gimp is running in the above screenshot) If so, can I e-mail you a question? I can't get the freaking thing to correctly compile with fink.

Thanks

Yeah feel free to email (the address is in my profile). For loads of info on running Gimp rootless go take a read of this thread.

Norm 1985,
The application menu is ASM, freeware that you can find at versiontracker.com, and probably other places as well.
The desktop picture is 1600x1200, I believe. I'm at work now, so don't have its website address available. I'll let you know this evening.

Hey now, I wasn't objecting to nudity... I just was suggesting a warning...

Also, I realise that it's not pr0n, I said that in my original post... and in my opinion, it's not offensive at all. But, I've worked in places where having that up on the screen when the boss walks by is liable to get you tossed out with a final paycheck. So, that's where I was coming from with the warning bit.

kadin -- thanks for posting the pic!

Well, that's nice and all, but they put their copyright notice in the area normally covered up by the start bar under windows... on my mac, it's annoying to have the text out in the open. But, I don't hold it against them... desktop pics from macdesktops.com have the text up where the menubar is... making it obnoxious in windows (for when i have to... )

i don't really know what they could do... if they provide both a mac and a pc version, someone could just use photoshop (or some other tool) and combine the two into one without the notice... oh well
