Don't we pay enough premium for our Apple Care??? We already pay an extra $100 or so for PB Apple Care, what's this going to cost us???

Yes yes, it is a rumor, but, let's put that aside and speculate here...

Dell sells a very similar service for more than $100 (extra) and their systems are cheaper in the first place.

I have had many people ask for this when I used to work for Apple.

This would defiantly sell no doubt. Of course if it was priced right ($100-$150 should be ok)

i'd do it as well, if it covered the accidental damage... heck, safeware, or whatever it is called is about $180/year for a PB17.

Don't forget that SafeWAre covers accidental damage and theft or lost. I highly doubt that AppleCare Plus would do this. Again, this is speculating on something that has not been announced by Apple.

Better than doing it through homeowner's insurance and having you rates jacked if you file a claim (I've heard some bad stories).

I woudln't even have to think about it. The notebooks I work on at work (Dell, ick) have 4 year Complete Care warranties on them. The kids could literally chuck these things out a 4th floor window, gather the pieces, bring it in, and it'd be repaired. Amazing.

Yeah, I'd go for it. I'd pay a decent amount, too.

I'd go for the extra, too.

Now, if the coverage would also include restoring corrupted drives when it has been a long time since the last back-up...

[Reminder to self: back-up critical files.]

Bike + pedestrian = accident...

Would have cost me $500 to get the casing replaced. Luckily TiBooks were cooking paint, or else I would have been paying for it.

Accidental damage insurance would be my friend.
