Is there a way to run system prefs through the terminal? Since installing 5G24, I can't launch sys prefs, and I need to change the start-up disk occasionally. Of course better yet, would be a way to open sys prefs without it crashing on me.

As far changing specific preferences ala terminal "text" mode, it depends on which preference you are talking about (not sure about startup disk - you can always hold down the 'option' key at bootup)... If you want to launch the "graphical" System Preferences via terminal simply type:

% open /Applications/System\ Preferences.app/

A friend of mine had a posting similar to this on App-L.org ... check that out..
