I just noticed today that the Apple System Profiler states my new PowerBook G4 1.5GHz USB bus speed is rated "Up to 12 Mb/Sec. How can this be as both USB ports are advertised as USB 2.0 -- e.g. 480 Mb/Sec.

Your system has four USB buses.
The USB "High Speed" bus (which is USB 2.0) that has the two USB connectors on the outside of the case.
One USB (which ist USB 1.1) bus which is internal and used for the Bluetooth module.
And two USB 1.1 buses which are simply "there" because the internal controller provides them, but they don't have any conectors.

Thanks for the quick responses! After reader your posts I realized what I did wrong, I didn't select the other USB Buses in the device tree
After I checked out those other buses the light came on ;-)
Thanks again!
