Say I want to download a ten page article and print 30 copies. Is it cheaper in terms of ink/toner to print one and copy the rest, or to just print them all - or does it matter?

I'm looking at the Brother MFC 7820N and the Canon MP830.

In terms of printing costs, it should be about the same. Maybe a marginal advantage to printing, so you can avoid wear and tear on the scanner part of the copier.

You want to do all your printing on the Brother laser printer; it would cost a lot more to print it all on the Canon inkjet.

That's interesting. Any idea how much less the laser is, per page?

Check Google man...

Inkjet Versus Laser Printers

There are other comparisons on how much per page a printer will cost.
Notebook: MacBook White 2.0Ghz | 2GB RAM | 120GB HD | Superdrive
HTPC: AMD 3800X2 | Asus A8N-SLI Premium | 2GB RAM | Asus N7800GT | 900+ GB of Storage | Sony 60" Grand WEGA
iPod Video 80GB

It varies depending on the brand and printer, but for printing text in you're looking at 1-3 cents a page for a laser and 4-12 cents cents a page for an inkjet (including the cost of paper for both).

Copying on a laser is far cheaper than printing on an inkjet.

I am looking for information on the actual cost per page people have experienced using desktop multifunction laser jets on a pages per cartridge/drum basis.

The numbers I have found are for 5% page coverage and I am trying to compair them to a contract for a larger copier at 1.4 cents per page (regardless of % coverage)

Thanks for any info you can share.
