I'd be interested in a poll on who doesn't even use them. I haven't looked at the dashboard in months. I wonder what it's up to.

I don't use it except to check the weather occasionally. I haven't found any widgets that do anything better than real app.

Translater, just faster for me to get there. Not like they ever translate exactly anyway..but whatever.

I also have 3 clocks setup so I know what time it is where my friends live (ireland, france, japan) so I know when I can call them safely without getting murdered for waking them up

Why do you dislike Dashboard? Seems kind of silly.

Throwing my cursor to the top left corner of my desktop to retrieve a live local doppler radar loop is awesome.

I love checking incoming flights and watching the speed and altitude of the plane change, so cool.

I use calculator, translator, unit converter, yellow pages, etc.. I don't understand how someone could hate on all that stuff being a click or a mouse-swipe away.

I very rarely need all of that stuff at once. I'd much rather just hit fn, type the first letter of what I actually want and hit return.

The BBC Radio widget is the only one I have on the dashboard permanently.

Some other widgets are handy, but I don't see the point of having them running (and using resources) all the time. For this reason I use them like little apps and only launch them when I need them. Plus, a lot of widget functions are accessible through a browser anyway.

I'd use an iTunes widget a lot, if you could use it without having iTunes open, but you can't, which kinda renders iTunes widgets rather pointless in my opinion.

Translate, Unit Converter and ColorBurn- that's about it.

Most widgets seem kinda half-baked and behave in unpredictable ways, IMHO. (Location entry in Weather- WTF?) And if you use Dashboard just occasionally, you're almost guaranteed the annoying startup wait as the app launches, which for me defeats the whole purpose. I will have Calculator.app launched via QS faster than I can get to an already open Calculator widget in Dashboard.

I like the idea of the separate layer, but I like little apps even better. Stickies.app is so much better than a Sticky widget, for example. The thing I like most about separate apps is that they're just that. I don't want to call up 10 random widgets when I'm just looking to do a sticky note.

I would really like to like it. Maybe some killer widget will come along.

TV Forecast 2.2.3 - MacUpdate

This one is money. I watch a ton of TV and don't own a TiVo (the DISH DVR is poor excuse, but better than nothing), so the widget helps me keep tabs on what is up-coming. Currently tracking 14 shows, which is the most my free time can handle.

I'm just silly then. I don't have a problem with it per se, it's just that it's too slow to load everything on my machine, and I never found widgets that were really that useful to use on a regular basis. I fly someplace maybe once a year? It's not worth it to have a dashboard widget for that. I find using Quicksilver to launch stuff like Calculator is actually faster for me.

I don't dislike it, just don't see it as very useful. I do use the Calculator though. Seems like everything else can easily be found on the internet which most of the I'm on already so it is just as easy to open a new tab. I don't know. Just haven't found much use for it. It's really cool but like the upcoming Spaces, I just don't/won't use it. And I rarely find myself using Expose either.

That's a picture of it from Apple's page.
When 'closed' the widget fades between random movie posters. Clicking on it sizes it. You can browse for movies, watch trailers and buy movie tickets.
