Is it smart to get a Dual 2GHz G5 now ? I've been reading here on MacNN that there could be a Rev C coming out soon. Anyone know more about this ? What's the timetable ? What's your advice ?
Depending on response here, I might order the G5 today ...
Thanks in advance ...

(I'm sorry if these has been discussed in another thread, I did not find it)

It'll be quite some time till Apple can actually deliver the G5s that have been ordered. If you want to buy a new Mac, now is a good time. If you wait 6-10 months, there will always be new gear

No, but now is one of the `safest' time to buy. No chance that Apple will update their PowerMac line-up anytime soon

The newly announced 2.5 hasn't even shipped yet, so I wouldn't worry. In fact Revision B. isn't even a month old.

the ONLY thing that the current G5 lacks is PCI-Express

but since that's only just been ratified and very very few pc's actually use , i doubt it will really matter until another year or so

if that

the agp 8x bus can handle the utterly amazing geforce 6800 ultra - so why worry ?

i think the whole 16 x hype over pci-e is daft

Rev B came out two weeks ago! I don't think we'll see a Rev C till January (MacWorld). Check the MacRumors Buyers Guide to see statistics on this.

Yes, I bought the RAM from Apple, I've to many problems with non-Apple RAM that I'm prepared to pay a little more in order to not have go go back and forth a couple of times with the machine to get it to work that way it should ... you get my point.

THX Cube-dude ! Of course, I can't wait !!! but then who could.

It will be my second Mac. I got a Alu PB 4 months ago, and I'm soooooo happy with Mac and OS X that I just had to get a G5 desktop machine ... if this thread is still alive in 2 weeks I might post pics here ...
