hey,
was hoping you all could help me with an assignment... i would just like your opinions on Jonathan Ive, anything ranging from...
Do you think his work is amazing?
to
What would you say his personality is like?

And if you know of the band The Flaming Lips...could you make any comparisons between them and Jonathan Ive?

Anything you have to say no matter how small would really help!

thanks in advance,
Lea

I really like Ives. To me he seems very humble from the interviews I've seen with him. He's great also in that he might be the one recognized for the wonderful design aspects but he doesn't take all the credit. He gives the credit to his team.

I personally have seen a battle of epic proportions staged in the middle east quadrant of the Sahara desert in the months of may. Yoshimi battled Ive for weeks on end and the pink robot struggled to produce breath after breath. Innovative... yes conducive... no....

I know he designed toilets at one point.

I guess that would explain the first iBooks.

my assignment is very random and any words about either Jonathan Ive or The Flaming Lips will help! basically i need to find a link between the two but it can be anything ranging from they have similar noses to use similar design processes! Then i design or make something about that link but it does not have to reflect either Jonathan Ives' work or The Flaming Lips!
fun!

Yes, I am beginning to see the resemblance. The chrome and white color scheme, the sterile, clinical feel. That explains a lot! Apple's computers really do look a lot like toilets!! Even the iPod feels like some sort of hygeine device that should be used in the bathroom. The Shuffle looks especially like an enema thingy. I see how Ives brilliantly ties together all of Apple's products with the toilet theme.

The iBook/toilet seat resemblance is very well known. But I think we should consider the idea that ALL of Ives's computer designs are toilet influenced.

The Flaming Lips in 1990? Hell yes!
The Flaming Lips since? Hell no!

Ives? No opinion, really.

I think that Jonathan has done an awesome job. He is a genius of design for Apple products.

Yeah the connection between his ipod design and the contents of an ipod containing the flaming lips is a good one.

Jonathan Ive (or "Jonny iPod" as his U2 friends know him) is super-talented designer! I love when Apple posts those short "design insight" vids with new product launches... always entertaining and inspiring.

Mr. Ive is one of the very few people on the planet who would be cool enough to run Apple when Mr. Jobs eventually (unfortunately) retires. Not sure what his business skills are like, but he's got plenty of "cool" to go around.

Who designed the Mac mini? Was it also an Ives' creation (design wise)?

Jon Ives: So, he's done marvelous stuff.
