With Netnewswire now free(!), I am thinking of having a desktop reader again. My dilemma, is that Google reader does everything I have ever wanted in an RSS reader(tags, star/flag,ease of use on multiple desktops, speed), except provide me my own backup offline. I use my reader as a primary source for stories on my blog, but also general interest, and then sort them with various tags and I like to have that all backed up for future reference. With Netnewswire, tags seem to be hard to configure, with manually dragging stories to various clippings folders. Is there an easy way to have the tag feature(maybe with shortcut keys?) with Netnewswire, and secondary to that, has anyone had good success with the syncing feature using newsgator?
