My girlfriend and I are rewatching Game of Thrones on Bluray ahead of the release of season two, and we *think* there have been some small changes made between the aired versions and the versions released on Bluray. The scene where the assassin tries to kill Bran Stark seems to have been slightly re-edited;the inn scene where Tyrion Lannister is captured, the conversation between Catelyn Stark and the old man appears to have been cut; and the scene where John Snow says goodbye to Bran Stark — my girlfriend remembers Catelyn Stark saying, “It should have been you”, but in the Bluray version she says, “Just go”.

Are we imagining it, or have they recut the episodes for Bluray?

Are you sure you aren't superimposing the books over the series? I actually did that in a couple scenes.

I do believe I remember her saying, “It should have been you” during the series, however, so you could be right.

Which broadcast version did you watch? Sky Atlantic cut every episode if you watched them at 9pm. Those eps lasted an hour including ads whereas the later repeat had a 1hr 15min slot somewhere around midnight.

Its not unheard of anyway, the Blu-ray versions of LOTR are slightly different from both versions of the SD DVD releases.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

What episode was it? I've got the originals that I pulled off my TiVo and can confirm/deny your memory.

I haven’t read the books, but the GF has, but she’s sure she isn’t superimposing the books over the series. The more I think about the “It should have been you” part, the more I think she may be right.

It was the Sky versions that a friend taped for us. (Is “taped” even the right word now? It was recorded onto a DVD-R.) I’m not sure if it was the earlier or later editions though, since I handed the DVDs on to another friend so can’t check the episode lengths now.

“It should have been you” happens/happened in episode 2, “The Kingsroad”. Your confirmation would be much appreciated!

I've only read the books, and could swear that Catelyn said both to Jon, "It should have been you" and "Just go."

I want to say the OP is right and I have a vague recollection of that same scene. I'll check this evening when I'm home and see for sure!

I have the US broadcast version (Shhhh!) and the in the scene where John says goodbye to Brann, Catelyn says "I want you to leave" just before Ned comes in and John leaves.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
