my friend used to have os 8.6 i just installed os 9 on my friends imac. everything seems to have been succesful aside from some messages saying that a quick time udate was not installed or some **** like that... i pressed continue and the installation seems to be totally succesful.

i starts up and it says os 9 and everything but now... I HAVE NO SOUNDS.

I MEAN NO SOUNDS ARE COMING OUT OF MY SPEAKERS.

the headphones work but nothing else. i've tried everything you can from going in the control panel then in sounds. in there i've tried everything. please help me!

Are you running 9.0? Most people here say 9.1 is the best. The updates are free from Apple, and that might solve your sound issue.
Does your friend still have his 8.6 startup CD? If so, try booting from that and seeing if the sound is still there. That'll verify it's a software issue with 9.0.
