Hello,
I am producing a site that I want to distribute via cdrom.

Are there tools that would autostart the users browser and open the home page, cross platform, or tricks to do the same?

Currently the best solution seems to lable the "index " file (drag to your browser window). Some people have trouble with that and if I can make it easer for the user, I will.

Thank-B

There are methods to auto-start programs from CD's, however they are not cross-platform. This being said, they are also non-exclusive, so you could include both of them. Here is a link to a nice set of directions:

hey i was going to post that link

i can't remember how that ShellRun.exe goes exactly. if you need an exe file to do the autostart thing on (since the autorun.inf only works on exes not files) you can use a Flash file - use two key frames, the second one having the action "open index.html" and save it as a PC exe.

also remember that mac users can turn the autorun thing off (recommended to avoid the worm getting around on CDs a few years back. "Quicktime Autostart worm" I think it was called.)

Thanks you two for the good info,

That "how to" link on using toasts autostart feature works great in all platforms...except OS X.

I am using an OS9 version of Toast. Does the X version have this feature?

THX-
