I was wondering, is there any quick way to mod fonts without having to go through the trouble of buying a program? I wanted to simply make an "ALL CAPS ARIAL" font. Got any ideas?

He's probably using it in Silk, where you can't specify all caps.

I wanted to create a system wide font in which the whole scheme would be in caps.

The only commercial font editors I know of are from FontLab. Their lite version costs 100 bucks, and their pro version costs like 600 (or you can buy macromedia's old fontographer from them for like 350, but it's os9 only). And while they may have more GUI features (i.e. consistant user interface with the rest of OS X), I suspect they don't offer much more in the way of font-editing features.

$600? What do they think it is? Photoshop?

I've used it. While it does do a good job, it's not nearly worth $600.

actually only 550, but still... besides, even with photoshop, you can like shop around and get good discounts (like, I bought an education edition for like $280). I can tell you that I'm definitely not paying that much just for a font editor.
