Hi, I just installed a 2nd hard drive on my PowerMac successfully. How do I protect files on that drive with FileVault?

Thanks,
Edgar

You cannot. FileVault encrypts your home folder.

On your second hard drive you can use Disk Utility to create an encrypted disk image either fixed size or a sparse disk image which grows automatically (and can be shrunken again manually) or a sparse bundle disk image which is the same but more Spotlight friendly. The latter is basically what FileVault does. Except that it needs to be mounted manually.

Is there any way I can transfer my home folder to the 2nd hard drive which is bigger and use filevault on it there?

Meanwhile I'll try to see if I can figure out how to use your suggestion.....

Thanks,
Edgar
