...my OS 9.1 QuickTime Updater SEEMS to have acquired a copy of QuickTime 5.0.1 FINAL. There is ABSOLUTELY NO indication of it being a beta OR a preview ANYWHERE in the "get info" boxes, OR the documentation...
Woo hoo!
Mark.

I'll be damned it's true.
The installer even warns that if I install QuickTime 5 I'll have to buy another key for Pro features. Not sure if I'm going to upgrade yet or not...
Why no official word from Apple?

If you have final verison of QT (4), then the updater picks up 5.0.1.
As far as the pro keys go, key purchased after QT5 was announced (I beleive Oct '00) will work. Keys older than that won't.

[EDIT] Okay, 5.0.1 is now on Apple.com so I've taken it off my server.
