I was rather surprised to get such as stupid error message in OSX when coping files.

How can it ask me a question but not give me more than one option to answer? Where is the cancel button or the red button?

Thanks for letting me know though OSX.

Hahaha, are you sure your copy of Mac OS X is genuine and not a copy from Microsoft? Would you like to validate it online?

It's probably designed to make you feel like you're in control. "Oh, ok, computer, I'll let you skip them."

Shouldn't there be an "Authenticate" option there or something? Just seems more logical to me.

Is your localization preference set to "dictatorship?"

Not only that but it doesn't even tell me WHICH item it was. So when I copy 100 files I have to compare to find out which one this applies to.

Reminds me of my favorite Windows NT 4.0 error message.

(not verbatim - from memory)

"There is not enough disk space to delete the file. Delete some files first".

That's not "as bad as Windows." It's worse. Windows would tell you some part of the path to the item, often the ENTIRE path, so you might have a clue about what's going on. Of course you'd get one for every file that it couldn't copy. Or it would just quit. Either way it wouldn't leave you as in the dark as that message!

msuper69, I've seen that message. There's a reason for it-the Recycler saves deleted file data in case you need to recover the files-but it's still stupid.

Actually, that message occurs even when the Recycle Bin is empty. The only way I could get around it was to create a file of zero length and copy it over the file I wanted to delete. That would make the file-to-be-deleted zero bytes thru freeing up enough space to successfully delete the file.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
