Apple is pretty firm in how much leeway they let authorized dealers have for prices. It's unlikely you'll find a brick-and-mortar store with much better prices than an Apple Store (in person or online). Some online authorized dealers skirt this by offering rebates, coupons, discounts, etc. I don't know which ones do better than others, but I know that's one way they cut prices.

Your best prices will be from an online reseller like MacZone, MacWarehouse, MacConnection, MacMall. Their actual prices won't be any cheaper than Apple Online or an Apple retail store, but they usually throw in some kind of incentive, like an extra gig or RAM, or a printer, or something like that. AND, the big difference is that those resellers don't charge sales tax (unless the particular reseller you pick happens to be located in your state) whereas the Apple online store does (because there is a retail Apple Store in Tennessee).

Agreed Apple Online store is the best place to buy new Macbook's, as they are always the new revisions and this decreases the chances of you getting an older Macbook which might potencially have some problems like overheating, CPU whine etc.
