Hey.. just thought people might be interested to know that the apple store online has refurb units of the iPod 5GB. It says "original touch wheel" which I think means the original moving wheel... the "touch" makes it seem like the touch sensitive one... but appl enever made any 5gb versions like that.

so,... I don't expect these to last.. $199 is cheap. closest otherwise was $239 from PowerMax.

Cool!

Unfortunately, I already bought an open-box new iPod 5 GB for $190. I kinda think the Apple refurbs would be a safer bet though. Plus, I think they have free shipping for the holidays. Get 'em while they're hot!

Damn! I missed out on this. Does anyone still have them on sale for $199?
What's the chances of Apple having more of these before X-mas?

You also might want to keep an eye on amazon's gold box thing. I picked a new one up for $250 - $30 for applying for their credit card. $220, no tax or shipping was a good deal. It took a while for this to come up but once it did, I was all over it. A couple weeks prior to that one, I had the chance to get a 10gig for $340, but decided to pass.

Not sure what you mean.
A new one is $299...so getting a new one at Amazon for $220 is an $80 savings. Not too shabby.

A refurbished one at $199 is a $100 savings...even better.
