Actually, it's more of a nuisance than a problem.

Everything works fine on the 'pod. But if it sits for a couple of days unused, I'll push the select button in the middle of the click wheel to turn it on, and the thing resets every single time, meaning the first thing I see is the Apple logo (instead of immediately seeing the menu I left off with days before) and a fresh boot up. Even stranger, the only thing that actually resets is the CLICKER, which I always turn off. It turns itself back on. All other custom settings I had made previously remain the same.

This is my 3rd iPod, so I know this is not normal.

Suggestions?!

Gracias.

My iPod does the same thing, as far as sitting for a few days and then having the Apple logo appear. I thought this was normal behaviour. Oh well.

The same thing here. When ever I leave my 4G ipod off for a day or two I see the Apple logo when I turn it on. Are we thinking this is not normal?

I just though the unit powered down instead of being in some sort of sleep mode....

Same behavior on mine.

I'm thinking this is a feature rather than a bug...

it happens on my 3g powerbook too. I think if you let it sits for few days, then the ipod will shut itself down to avoid draining the battery.

It's a feature to preserve the battery:

Interesting. Thanks for the post.

While it is undeniably a useful battery-saving feature, it is a pain in the butt having to manually reset that darn clicker every time. You'd think they could easily fix that.

How odd that you should be experiencing this problem. I've never come across it.....mind you, I've only just bought my first iPod (arrived last week) and it's been used every day so far!! I'm quite a happy 'bunny!

Same on my 20GB 3G iPod. After a few days, turning it on "reboots" the iPod. But, the click noise doesn't come back - all my settings are otherwise maintained. This is normal behavior, AFAIK.

same iPod: my clicker just doesn't work any more, other than through headphones. annoying. i've had to restore it twice since i bought it, too. twice as annoying.
