Kind of unfair- a large order of fries at Guys could easily feed a family of 4. Much, much larger than a large order at pretty much any other fast food joint.

Probably the reason Five Guys fries are actually good whereas more "healthy" fries tend to taste like ass. If they taste like something at all.

Once again, repeat after me: if you're worried about your health and becoming 120 years old just avoid fast food. It's as simple as that.

The best fries in the universe are at Clearman's Northwoods Inn. The rest of their food is downright weird, but the fries are like 100 tiny angels building a monument to Kate Beckinsale in your mouth. Or something like that.

With their Arby's sauce? Bingo. Possibly the best fast-food fries. (Tied with, surprisingly enough, Taco Bell's Fries Supreme - what could possibly not be amazing about processed cheese, meat, and sour cream and chives on fries? Exactly.)

Have you tried the fries at Sunset Boulevard? Best damn fries I’ve ever had (including the home-made ones!). And they’re roasted in the oven, rather than deep-fried, so they’re claimed to be ‘healthier’ than regular fries.

I have never ever had fries (or potato chips for that matter) that weren't fried in oil and actually tasted good. There's a reason they're called fries. If you want something prepared in an oven try bread.

There is a way to make oven-baked fries fry-like, but it involves covering them with copious amounts of oil, which seems to kind of defeat the purpose (other than making it easier to cook french fries at home, of course).

Nor have I, except the ones at SB. They’re damn good. Probably more to do with the spice blend thingy they’re covered in than the method of roasting, but they’re still extremely delicious.

That's another pet peeve of mine. Fries need salt. Salt. Salt alone. No spice mix, no pepper, no curry, none of that other nonsensical bullcrap. It's french fries, not a pot roast for Christ's sake.

To answer your original question though, yes. Several years ago I was killing time at Copenhagen main station after a long trip through Norway and Sweden and I tried SB. IIRC they were located quite close to McD on the main level. I even had those fries you mention. Meh. Didn't work for me.

That makes as much sense as alcohol free beer or decaffeinated espresso.
