"It's the best thing since sliced bread"

Ok when the heck did sliced bread come out and were people more interested in it than the moon landing?

I know it is just a saying now but back when it first came out people must have have been blown away to turn it into a saying.

Sliced bread is the opposite of a big deal. Convenient, yes, but not nearly as tasty and pumped with unnatural stuff so that it doesn't go stale so quickly.

Keep in mind that before sliced bread, sandwiches were theoretically possible, but a somewhat risky endeavor to try and build...

I think loaves of french bread are better than sliced bread. Crunchy on the outside soft on the inside and you can make a great sub with it. Mmm...sub.

I saw a documentary on food once (either on the Food Network or Discovery) that explained why sliced bread was so great (among other things...). I don't remember what it is, but rest assured there is a reason.

To be serious, my vote goes for the axel. Bagels would be right up there, toasted with a little cream cheese,
