im pretty new to applescript

is it possible to create a AS to run a terminal command? if so, how
thanks.

To see the types of things you can do with Applescript and Terminal, open Script Editor and examine the Terminal's dictionary.

You don't need terminal.app, AppleScript can run shell script' directly via the do shell script command:

do shell script "ls ~/Documents"
