(psst, SWG, twas a joke.)

christmas invasion watched. Bit slow in parts, but quite liked the humor of it, the fighting hand, etc. Wish the PM hadn't have ordered the Torchwood, it will change her character.

what do folks think about the Torchwood spinoff with Jack? Does he need his own series? Will it take away from Dr Who? (I was looking forward to his recurring guest appearances.)

I watched a zillion episodes of Little Britain and I never knew Tom Baker did the voice for it. I am so ashamed.

Yes they have all been good so far, story, and effects. Next week is the Cybermen episode.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Just to toss in my two cents, I'm kind of shocked at how good this show is. I totally expected it to suck.

I have finally managed to see one of the new Dr. Who episodes with Christopher Eccleston. It was a FANTASTIC Dr. Who episode, and overall the series looks great. Of course that episode was "Dalek," which gave Eccleston some good material to work with, and the effects were almost too good-for Dr. Who, that is.

Anyone who walks into the franchise as a viewer without any experience or expectations will make his or her own judgements, but here's my experience. My 18 year old son, who had not really heard anything about Dr. Who was hooked after this one episode. We had to do some explaining (what daleks are/were, what's with the call box, etc.) but that was minor; the STORY hooked him. Sure, it's formulaic and slightly cheesy, but compared to even the Tom Baker seasons, this is uptown and high-class TV.

seconding "The Empty Child." hope you caught it.

what do folks think about Tennant as the tenth in new season two? I've just caught up on a bunch of eps, just finished The Satan Pit... the beginning of the season was very strong I thought, the middle kinda meh, and the last two very good classic scifi.

They keep mentioning torchwood, trying to make it like a bad wolf reference, only it's less subtle and creepy, seems more of a product placement. I miss Captain Jack!

The season could use an overall arc message/plotline.

I just watched "Fear Her" (episode 11 of season 2). Holy crap! It was bad. Not cheesy bad, but stupid bad. The ending was an embarrassment. Overall, season 2 has been a mixed bag, some good, some dreadful.

The new Doctor is fine but I prefer Eccleston's Doctor. He had a energetic loopiness about him, yet he could be very threatening and menacing.

It annoys me a little bit that these are refered to as season 1 and 2, when really they are 27 and 28. This isn't supposed to be a remake. It even says series 1 on the boxset. Damn bbc.

So if it hasn't been mentioned yet Billy (Dr. Who's bitch) is leaving at the end of the season.

Aww, man. I hope the next couple of seasons are good. I liked Billie and Christopher a lot. And that chick looks annoying.

And yeah, I don't think we're going to see the Doctor with only a male companion for a while.

i think billie is annoying, maybe its the way they write her character. i wish they would have let david do some episodes by himself and then bring in the new companion.

I concur. I also don't like her looks. She has a massive jaw like a pitbull. I think Ellen Feiss should be the next companion.

Adric. The dr was more of a father figure to him, and his female companions, back then.

Other male companions of note: Jamie, Turlough, and Harry Sullivan.

If they were worried about pushing the gay envelope, I don't think they'd have given Capt Jack all that saucy dialogue.
