I'll bet Apple gets slammed no matter what the number is. Too high, people will say they are inflating the numbers. Too low, people will claim the iTMS is failing.

I'd love to see them list the number of songs downloaded, and include the songs from the Pepsi promotion. Then I would guess about 85 million. Although, if they are just totalling the number of songs sold, would gift certificates and Target prepaid cards would count, even if they hadn't been redeemed yet?

Hmmm, so who looks worse with that statistic you think? Pepsi or Apple?

Pepsi because they can't even sell the product with a kickass promotion.

or

Apple because even the winners didn't go download and install iTunes to redeem?

The winners are the losers.

most people don't care about the promos unless you can get a free bottle of dew

Sounds as if it were primarily Pepsi's problems. Distribution was apparently just terrible to major markets- LA didn't get bottles until 4 weeks after the Super Bowl ad. Sounds as if there were so many other promos that weren't clearing out fast enough ahead of the iTunes bottles.

I agree that it was Pepsi's fault. I didn't see a single Pepsi bottle with the promotion. I live in downtown Chicago and shop at two major grocery stores and they didn't have any.

Where I work, our cafeteria had tons of the yellow capped pepsi bottles. All the Diet Pepsi's disappeared pretty quick, but there are still tons of regular Pepsi bottles. Maybe that's why!

Pepsi shouldn't have limited the caps so much. Cherry Pepsi is the only Pepsi product I drink, and I was pissed that they weren't included in the promotion.

Actually, I think that should be the next promo: iTunes songs in the underside of champagne corks. No peeking, plus they'd aim for the high class, expensive market.

Crown Royal: 3 out of 3 wins: if you don't get an iTunes song, you can still feel nice 'n warm 'n drunky *hic.*
