Hello everyone!

I thought I'd try asking here (kind of as a last resort) because I'm looking for someone to design some custom icons for a web application I'm making and I'm having absolutely no luck at all! I'm not intending this message to be spam so please go easy on me, I've never posted in the Lounge before

Basically I'm looking for Mac OS X Aqua styled icons and although I've contacted a few people, I've not had any response... I've of course looked at the usual suspects like Iconfactory (too expensive) and Shopicons.com (limited selection) but I'm at a loss now...

The requirement I have is for about 17 40x40 pixel icons for the software which is an online photo gallery package. The icons will be distributed as part of a collection of PHP scripts so ideally they need to be supplied in PNG format.

Topics are:

Add to lightbox
Next page of album
Send an e-card
My Lightbox (personal album of favourite images)
Back to start of album
Image information
Locked album
Album
My account
Search image library
My shopping cart

User settings
Site settings
PayPal Settings
Shopping settings
Image library settings
Image category settings

The software currently uses a mish-mash of icons from both Mac OS X and various other applications but this obviously not ideal as some of them are Apple copyright material. I'm not bothered about the icons being completely unique and using bits of existing icons is not a problem (for me at least ...

I really like the styling of the icons on this page but I can be flexible:

I don't have an enormous budget for this but I'm open to offers so if you are a designer or know someone who is, I'd love to hear from you at [email protected]

Cheers, Jamie

Aw man, he sucks. Uses paintshop pro or something, and does only 8-bit icons.

Seriously, Adam and MindFad are masters of icon design. Pretty talented with interweb page design too.

Hmm. Seeing as Adam and I got plugs within the same minuteI love you guys and I didn't get an e-mail, I'll take it you contacted Adam.

I have a pretty big project coming up, but I should have time for this one as well if you want to talk it over. Drop me an e-mail.

And yeah, I may design an OK website, but I don't have the CSS kung foo that was put into Adam's site.

Well, that was quick! Thanks for all the help, you should have all received e-mails by now.

The software the icons are for can be found at http://popsoft.info/popphoto/ which should give you an idea of the kind of thing I'm after (except better of course!)...

It's a while since I've used this forum so it's good to see it's as useful as ever..!

That's understandable. I was just so taken by the CSS work, I didn't notice Jan's name down there.

If you're e-mailing around there's always the venerable Mike Matas. I'm not sure how busy he is but if you're getting quotes from everyone you might want to try him too.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have worked with him in the past but obviously this doesn't benefit me. If you decide to e-mail him, don't mention me

Actually that's not exactly correct. I designed everything from scratch first, including layout, CSS, XHTML and graphics. When I realized that my CSS and XHTML code wasn't clean (thank to dreamweaver), I hired Jan to do the site with cleanest and most compatible code possible and plug it in MovableType. I did give Jan plenty of credits, much more than he would like to see. Hope that's clear to you

Thanks to those who brought my name up but unfortunately, I will not be doing icon designs for a while. I really need to focus on personal stuffs first.

My only recommendation for skilled and friendly icon designer is MindFad. I know many people who are really happy with his services. Mike Matas's very good too but frankly not many clients like his policies.
