ive had my intel imac since feb and till yesterday everything was fine, but now my ipod not only freezes up whenever i connect it to my intel imac, but it freezes the entire system...and the second i remove it (without properly ejecting it) the system automatically goes back to normal functionality. funny thing is it works just fine with my G4 powerbook and G5 dual core at work...this is rather strange. are older ipods now not able to communicate properly with new intel imacs? or am i a rare case?

also...does anybody got any suggestions? ive resorted to restoring the ipod and even that didnt do anything, im sorta stuck .

I have a 1st gen iPod mini that I use with my MacBook and have no problems at all. That is really strange that yours just quit working like that. Did you install the new ipod software that was released yesterday or anything?

correct me if I'm wrong. But the firewire connectors aren't officially made for the 5G iPods are they? I've heard that although they may work, they won't work as good as they will on a 4G or older.

Firewire cables only work to charge the 5G iPods. But the poster didn't say anything about having a 5G iPod.

in most cases when a person doesnt say which of whatever product theyre talking about it, most responders will automatically think of the newest and best of the product that they know of. so it was just natural that the other person automatically thought of the 5G ipod

Maybe, but if he says that everything was working fine until yesterday, and that after changing to a different firewire cable "everything is working fine" I think it's safe to assume he knows what kind of cable to use with his iPod.
