An AE card from Apple is $49 brand new.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Thanks for the info. So, all the airport extreme cards are the same? No difference in whether I get one originally for an iBook or what not?

Well, not all AirPort Extreme cards are the same.

Part #661-3045 can be used on the majority of AirPort Extreme ready Macs.

On the other hand, some of the modules combined with Bluetooth function are designed for iMac G5 (17-inch iSight), Mac mini (Late 2005), PowerBook G4 (17-inch Double-Layer SD), iMac G5 ALS (17-inch), iMac G5 (20-inch iSight), PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD), and iMac G5 ALS (20-inch).

no, not all the same, and even different from g5 to g5 (late 2005). link HERE.

if it is the earlier system, then check out the DIY pdf HERE, and then yes, any standard airport extreme card would work. don't forget to plug in the little 'T' external antenna on the back or you will get crap wireless reception!

i would second the pci or usb trick. quick and easy and for probably less than you will find the apple part or parts. best of luck.

A PCI wireless card is a nifty thing if your machine isn't capable of taking an AirPort Extreme card natively. But if it is, why bother with the hassle and lose a PCI slot?

Just snag one like this on eBay. Can't beat $31.99 for new.
