I have read in multiple places that Leopard doesn't rely(solely) on Extras.rsrc anymore for its GUI pieces. Just hoping someone could clarify where else Leopard is looking for its pieces?

And you even posted in that thread swiz.
Pass that stuff over.
We gonna see a new theme from swiz soon? Hopefully it will be offered as a SS theme and an installer.
I am trying to get someone to do it so I don't have to. And Max doesn't post here anymore...
Max did do a good job of making Aqua more consistent. I give him that. I was hoping he'd do the same with Unified. But I haven't heard anything new as far as themeing goes from him in a long time.
His last update was march of 2006.
Max Themes
And http://www.maxthemes.com/forum/ doesn't work.

Depending on how quickly I can learn the new Leopard GUI resource locations and such and as long as I have a little time to do it, I will at least be getting rid of the hodge podge stuff.

How's that work? I thought it wasn't out until tomorrow.

Because I have a "friend" that gave me a copy. Don't worry Charles, I pay for all my OS upgrades I assure you. (Except for 10.0.0 because Apple sent us a copy for free. And since we weren't switching to 10.0 at the time, It was given to me)

Oh, I wasn't trying to accuse you of anything. I was just wondering if there was something like Staples selling 10.0 two days early or whatever that was.

Wow.
I know I havent been working on themes for almost 2 years now but this kind of makes me feel relieved knowing that I can't change it. Now I won't feel like I need to try to make time to work on it.
There are really only a few things I want to change anyhow so maybe I'll focus on those and maybe get lucky in implementing a small number of changes as opposed to a whole new design.
Im sure Unsanity will figure something out at some point.

It should be fairly easy to change the colors of Aqua and Graphite. But I think we can say with fair certainty that fundamental changes to the shape of Aqua elements and such are impossible to change, unless people find a way to crack the .xml code.
The really odd part is that you hardly need any Photoshop or Illustrator experience, as most of the elements like the actually box of a checkbox are drawn by code. The only image files it uses are the check mark (a PDF file) and the Aqua/Graphite color (a .tiff file).

There's some really interesting "materials" in that CoreUI framework.

someone may have already mentioned this, but it turns out CoreUI appears to only be used for UI scale factors other than 1. How do I know? well, I modified one of the XML files, and I get results:
when the UI scale factor is 1.25 and when it's 0.5, but not when it's 1.0. My next project was going to be the menu bar, but I didn't have any luck and my homework was piling up, so I had to call it quits for a while (This was like a week ago, and I haven't gotten back to it yet).
But... it looks like if you could figure out the system, most things have a mask and a texture and a bunch of rendering settings, so it could actually be feasible to redo a lot of stuff.

Crack the XML code?
It's a binary plist.
You open them up in Property List Editor (It's included in Developer Tools).
Inside there it's just key-value combinations.

'er yes, but it's about five miles long, and it's not entirely clear what key in the xml does what. Obviously you can figure some of it out, (as demonstrated by my example above), but a lot of the keys are not at all apparent just by looking. It's sorta like microsoft's "Open" XML formats - yeah, you can open them with standard (maybe even cross platform) tools, but to actually make sense of what it is, or to edit it, it's not nearly that easy.
