Navigation broke on my 6. I may then get a new 7. Honestly, if I knew ios would support a 6 forever, I may save few bucks and get replacement 6 six; hence for question: How long will ios updates work for phone 6?

They still sell the 6, so I'd say they'll still support it for quite a while. My 5s is still supported by iOS, even though Apple doesn't sell it anymore. I think you have some time.

Thanks, what is the calculation? What is the last one they stopped supporting. You give it X years from release? 6 was release.
I can get 6 replacement for $300 16gb,/ 7 is $550 though is 32 GB
I'm not unhappy with 6

The iPhone 5 (NOT s) and 5c maxed out at version 10.3.3 in August of 2016. Since the iPhone SE is pretty close to a 5s, I think they’ll continue to support both the SE and 5c for quite a while. That puts your iPhone 6 in a position to be supported for enough time to make keeping it worth while.
The 5s was released in September 2012, while the various versions of the 6 were released in September of 2013 (the 6 and 6 plus), and September 2014 (the 6s and 6s plus). They are all still very capable phones, and with the way the 8 and X have not sold by the bushel, I think the platform will remain viable - and supported - at least until late 2019 or even into 2020.

Google Maps, Apple Map, don't work period. They start and then stall.

I wouldn't call that a reason to get a new phone... but a separate thread, maybe.

Your iOS install is corrupt.
Backup and restore from backup.
95% chance it will fix it.

It still sounds like a software issue, not a hardware problem.
Have you had a chance to go to an Apple Store ?
Secondly, after making a backup, does the problem persist even with a clean install (without restoring the old data) ?

You don't need a new phone for a software issue, but an appointment with an Apple Genius to reset your phone is what Turtle was hinting at.
