Apple have just released :-

iDVD 6.0.1 Update
This update to iDVD 6 resolves issues with integration with the other iLife applications, importing of legacy projects and some theme related issues. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iPhoto 6.0.1 Update
This update to iPhoto resolves issues with photocasting, viewing thumbnails in large libraries, and ordering cards, calendars and books. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iMovie HD 6.0.1 Update
This update to iMovie HD 6 resolves issues with Ken Burns rendering performance, Scrubber Bar editing performance and theme image quality. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

iWeb 1.0.1 Update
This update to iWeb 1.0 addresses issues related to publishing and blogs. It also addresses a number of other minor issues.

On the Apple Download page now.

I have installed them all and it was strange that the only one that requested my Root password to install was iPhoto all the others just installed !

Did you install them all in one shot or one after the other within the span of a few minutes? If so, that's normal. The computer assumes that within that time nobody clubbed you over the head and pretending to be you instead of pestering incessantly for a password.

I did install them all in one go, but only the last one asked me for a password, not the first as you have suggested.

I did install 10.4.5 this morning, but that was quite a few hours ago and it has had a reboot since as well.

Seems that Steve during his Keynote was using iMovie 6.0.1 Since if you watch the keynote when he switches between themes you see "Loading..." the shipping version 6.0 had no such notification and was very choppy when switching. 6.0.1 adds this and is much smoother.

Another thing, if you look at the iMovie screenshots on Apple's site the buttons on the "Media" and "Editing" tabs look much nicer:

And I still can't upload my web site using iWeb to .Mac. I'm on a slower satellite line in Baghdad and all I can think is what the hell? My upload speed allows video iChats, but I can't upload some web pages?

When I try to upload, it says it can't upload a .png file. I get this:

Any suggestions? It won't let me do anything.

iPhoto performance for viewing thumbnails is still as bad, if not worse, than v.5. Even rebuilding thumbnails doesn't help, nor does setting the thumbnails at their true size (done by pressing '2'). It's really quite pathetic really. Compare it to the performance of Picasa on a modest PC - much better.

The thing is that a Mac can do these thumbnails nicely, take a look at the speed of PhoenixSlides: http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/18735

The update improved a few very bad issues related to image quality and preview quality in iMovie 6. See this thread and link in my post for description of the problems. But there's still a long way to go to get back to iMovie 5 performance standards.

The problems that persist in iMovie 6.0.1 seem to be very graphics card dependent. On my Ghz TiBook (64 MB ATI card), the update did pretty much nothing and playback is still much worse than it was in iMovie 5. On my G5 at work, the 6.0.1 update fixed the problem and the same movie plays with much higher quality and does not have the purple problem.

iPhoto is the bright spot in iLife '06 for me. Thumbnail performance for 5000+ images is very good (once they are all loaded).

Go to your iDisk and delete the iWeb folder under Sites and re-upload?

I had a problem when exporting video from iMovie to a webformat (either directly to iWeb, or as a quicktime export) where the audio would be severely distorted. Larger format exports had fine audio. This is now fixed with the iMovie update. I am happy.

I've tried deleting the folder and it still chokes on this .png file. And I can't seem to change the image because it's one of iWeb's default templates.

I also can't even find the iWeb files that are choking it. Nothing shows up in Spotlight. And I can't seem to figure out where it stores a) its templates and b) my files. Bah. This is an alpha release ...
