Just upgraded to Panther and my HP PSC AIO (all in one) printer no longer works!

HP hasn't updated their drivers in 8-10 months! I'd really like to get it working since it has my scanner built in too and am very budget constrained in this economy.

If anyone knows (by experience preferabbly) how to get it running with Panther I'd be really greatfull.

Alternatively, which inkjet models / manufacturers are most likely to keep their drivers up to date through the MAc OS X upgrades?

I don't hink it's too much to ask to expect your printer to work for 3-5 years despite OS upgrades.

Hp's have bad mac software and high cost per page.

Lexmark is just junk. Expensive as hell ink.

Epson, good quality when it WORKS but the heads clog all the time and it cost you a fortune in ink cleaning the heads.

Canon. Excellent drivers that work the same from 10.2 to 10.3. Cheap cost per page and amazing print quality.

Another vote for Canon. They've had drivers for OS X since (at least) 10.0 when a new printer was released! Plus, the Canon S630 is still in daily (heavy) use and works like a charm. I can only recommend them.

I was installing an HP AIO printer today (PSC 4210 I believe) and while on the HP site to get the driver I noticed a new driver dated 12/30/03. (A couple weeks ago I thought the driver there was dated June of '03).

When I first installed this new driver, I initially had several communication problems.

So I rebooted. (Should have remembered from my PC days.)

Now everything is working fine. I've tried lots of Safari printing, photos from iPhoto, scanning photos into PhotoShop Elements etc. All seems fine now. Everything I throw at it works.

I'm happy.
