Hey folks,

I was wondering if a 15" (high rez) Powerbook G4 could run a 30" display at 2560x1600. I don't have the high rez model, but my brother does. It seems that we have the same graphics card, but Apple Tech Specs shows that the 15" high rez model can run an external display at 2560x1600 (which I'm assuming is a 30" monitor).

If it can, I'll swap computers with him and return my Dell 2407-HC for a 30" model.

Thanks!
15" Powerbook G4 | 1.67, 1.5gb, 128VRAM, SD
20" iMac | 2.66, 2gb, HD 2600
Dell 2408WFP

Your brother's PB for sure, yours 'could be'… it was a BTO option for the 1280*854 15" PB

Check this out:

PowerBook G4 and Apple Cinema Display (30-inch DVI) resolutions

then, this is 15" high rez spects:
PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) - Technical Specifications

where you can read:
Video and graphics support
ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics processor with AGP 4X support and 128MB of DDR SDRAM
Dual-link DVI functionality

and here is for your PB 15 standard rez -so to speak-
PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz) - Technical Specifications

So yes, if you swap computers you could run that amazing 30 inches display, at least it is going work with the Apple 30 inches display, I guess any other maker like dell, HP… are also dual link dvi?, huh?
