Hi,

Just curious as to how many of you have thought about selling your powerbook, and/or if you have done so.

With news of major improvements in the future, or due to other reasons I wonder how you arrived at your decision.

I am battling myself in keeping my 17" powerbook at this point. I already have a g5 and pismo that I love using. When I take out the 17" I totally know why i have it then, but honestly my pismo gets more use than my 17"

I think I should be able to get a nice chunk of change if I sell the 17", so is this the best time to start saving up for some newer technology. Will the new stuff be that much better than what I have?

Thanks!

i'll give you $500 for it i think even if you waited until after new intel powerbooks were announced you could still get a nice chunk of change for it.

Yes, I plan to sell mine, when new ones are announced. My Powerbook is fantastic, and I appreciate it every day. However, it is fun to have the latest thing.

17" iMac Core Duo 1.83 GHZ, 1.5GB RAM

iPod Shuffle (512 MB)

I'll give you $500.01 for it, plus shipping. And I don't even want a 17". Too big. I'm just offering that to do you a favour.

Seriously, I thought a little bit about trying to sell my PB17 (1.5Ghz). I figured I could get a PB12 and hang with that and the family Mac mini until the Mactels come out. Then I'd try and hold out for a rev b Mactel 17 or 15.

If the 12s had a backlit keyboard and hot-swoppable batteries, I'd do it, but I'll probably just hang on to the 17. It's such a great laptop.

I'll probably get rid of my TiBook, but because I PREFER smaller laptops, and the warranty runs out soon on it.

I thought about selling my 12" PowerBook, not because of the Mactel change but because of the battery running hot enough to fry an egg/cause warp on one side. Ever since the battery recall, I can't even buy a spare battery locally.

*mumbles* Also today at a CompUSA I found a 12" battery in the clearence bin, once I got home to try it... turns out CUSA must love reselling dead batteries this way

Back in October 2003, I sold my 667Mhz Powerbook. It was a combo drive with 512 Ram and 30GB. I also included a brand new battery from Newer Tech and a brand new (still in the box) DiskWarrior. On top of that, it came with two warranties, the Screen Protector warranty and Safeware to cover accidental damages. I took really good pictures and posted it on eBay. I priced her at $1315 and she sold in 8 hours!

I sold it because I was unemployed and needed the money and that I was waiting to buy a new Powerbook model come Jan. 2004...which I did and now use.

I sold my G4 1.25 a few weeks ago. Got an amazing price, too (£1100), considering the news of Intel Macs.

Going to sell my Rev. b 15" PB (1.5GHz, 1GB) if a PowerBook G5 is ever to be released.
If not, I'll wait to see the feedbacks on the Intel powered portables which will probably be released sometimes next year.

PB line will never go G5. Not anymore.

I don't think I could part with my Powerbook, well...that is for a very very long time. I'm too afraid of taking it out of the house! (laughs) I love this thing. I do exactly what I always wanted to do on it, and that's music. So, I'm truly happy, until I NEED more features out of a laptop, this one will do awsome. Super speedy, elegant, sturdy and decent battery life. When the new Powerbook G5's (Intelbooks), or whatever they're going to be...actually come out...I might consider trading up. Simply because of the convenience of having the best of both worlds. I would love to be able to run Virtual PC at native speed along side OS X, be able to run games that can take advantage of the hardware. That would be the ultimate dream machine. But until then...my G4 is sticking around for a long while.
