This is incredible, a whole city dedicated to those in visual arts, and the media. They are encouraging companies to move in with amazing tax breaks (imagine no tax income tax for 50 years), and work in a hub pf creativity.

In recent years, Dubai has been a really amazing up n coming place for CG animatots, and designers. I'd love to go work there for a bit.

Here's a link to a thread discussing it

And here's the website for the city.

Yes but DubaiMediaCity is well located where Dubai is.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

lol, it is a bummer. Thing is though, it'd be great for a freelance artist to get their feet wet for a few years. Just hop over for a couple of years, get to work on some high profile productions, and then come back home. The chance if working with some amazing talent is high, and also get to see another culture for a few years.

If I wasn't movng to Australia, I'd love to see Dubai.

P.s. They are also fully decked out with Inferno, Flame, and god knows what other systems.

Been there myself. it;s amazing how much money these ppl have invested in this place. image a city built at once with all brand new buildings. They also have an "Internet City" and a "university city". I grew up like two hours away from Dubai.

Isn't the UAE a "dry" state?

I might be missing something but in my experience most creative types tend to like a drink/smoke when they get off work.

That's what I thought too, but I did a bit of checking and people from other countries can drink all they want. They have the usual assortment of clubs, pubs and so on.

I heard it's quite a relaxed lil' country too

It must have been quite an experience to live there. I think it'd be pretty sweet to spend some time absorbing the Gulf States, open up the eyes a bit.

Yeah. it was quite a large chuck of my life. Beautiful place, and yeah it's not all that 'dry'. But, due to politics and religious 'racism' (although extremely relaxed in the UAE as opposed to Saudi), i wouldnt want to live there, or raise a family there. great place to make a lot ofm oney though.
