i think he means he likes the draught can, not the bottled guinness they had for a while that was shitty. they do have a new bottled guinness that is supposedly draught-like, but i havent tried it yet.

of course, a guinness from the tap drawn by someone who knows how to draw a pint is ALWAYS preferred.

scotts dark beer? guinness
scotts lighter beer? red stripe

I've tried Guiness Draught once, and that was enough for me. The first mouth full almost made me throw up. I couldn't even finish my glass and for the rest of the night, I could taste it every time I burped. That's some nasty stuff, about like drinking Schlitz.

Tonight's was "Ruddles County Ale" an Easter present from my mom.

But as to the question at hand:
Smithwicks
Guinness
Caffrey's
Rickard's Red
Corona
and when I'm in a brawling mood, Red Dragon

c'mon dood, you'll grow outta that. The beauty of Guinness is that it is about as flat as water, hence you won't burp and will be able to drink more! Anyway, there is a technique that you need to use in order to drink it right (hint: the first sip should kill at least 1/3 of the pint). Cripes, I had a chick friend back in law school that would drink as many pints of Guinness (IN ONE GULP) as we could afford to buy her. Unfortunately, we were rather poor and only spare about one beer for her a week.

As an aside, I just had a routine CBC done and my UIBC was through the roof (that's unbound iron binding capacity)! However, my Fe was normal. I am still wondering if it had anything to do with the Guinness.

Well, as far as dark beer, I do like Amber Boch. It has a good flavour without being to dry and bitter like some dark beers.

If I'm looking to kill a few hundred brain cells in a hurry; Mississippi Mud.

If I'm looking to be coherent an hour later; Steinlager.

If I'm looking to impress the person I'm with; the house favorite.

When I used to drink quite a lot (I drink very rearely now, maybe once a month), I would either be drinking $5 pitchers of Budweiser (awful but cheap for New York) at our local bar, or $4-5 pints of Brooklyn Lager.

Then i went to engineer a live rock show at the Brooklyn Brewery where they make Brooklyn lager. Since i was engineering, they gave me as many free drinks as could handle. The bartender said the beers "creep up on you like wild monkeys" because they're so concentrated at the breweries (before the bars get them and water them down to save money). Not believing him, I downed 3 pints in an hour and a half (this was when I was drinking every other night). I've never been that drunk before. it was like drinking a 12 pack, but it was a very pleasent drunkeness. not at all woozy or gross. Just really good. if you're ever in new york, you owe it to yourself to go out there for a beer. it's a ten minute subway ride from manhattan and a pint costs 2.50. It's worth 4 times that.

I also like Pabst Blue Ribbon.

i would never, though, display bottles of beer (or other alcohol) that I've drunk.

My all time favorite is the Hansa fatl, from Bergen, Norway. It is the best lager in the world.

Second is Heineken, especially good with fresh food, like salads and such.

And to round it off, San Miguel. A beer one can drink on any occation!

Oh yeah I like that Coopers. I just downed a couple of long necks of them last night. Tonight I bought Guinness though

A comparison of Guinness for those who didn't understand me before:

Guinness Draught = YUM YUM (as sold in pubs, cans, bottles)

Guinness Original = not so nice

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout = never tried it

I think there was a Guinness bitter for a bit with a green label. Don't think it lasted but maybe it's still available.
