In Monterrey, if you change the scroll direction for a Macbook/Air/Pro trackpad, it changes the scroll direction for any attached mouse, and vice versa. Why, Apple? Why make two different preference widgets but keep the scroll direction linked? Not cool.

Anyway, it appears that Ventura has addressed this. Can anyone verify that?

Also, is there a way (without external software) to unlink these settings? Is there some buried file in preferences or something?

Bueller? Bueller?

It looks like this is either an uninteresting subject, or it’s a tougher nut to crack than I’d thought…

I'm not setup well to test this. No Ventura installs yet - it's pending a graphics-related upgrade. I'd planned to look into your question sometime next week.

OK. I had thought there would be plenty of “I’m up to date” folks running Ventura who might at least be able to test this.

When FedEx finally gets me my refurb 2022 MBP I will check it out. See “Minor Irritants” for more on this…

I'm still running Monty too.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Well I just tried it, and with Ventura 13.4.1, scrolling direction is still linked between mouse and trackpad. Rats.

That looks good. A ways down in that link is a list of alternatives to Scroll Reverser. One I am definitely going to check out is UnnaturalScrollWheels for (I hope) obvious reasons.

I've tried both Scroll Reverser and UnnaturalScrollWheels, and they both work on my MBP. I kind of like Unnatural better; it seems more "finished," and once installed, it automatically adds itself to login items, so you don't have to remember to add it yourself.

Such a simple thing, right? But anyway, my mouse and trackpad feel more "natural" now.
