Even just a little time having the metal back was too long! I'm so used to having UNO.

Uno seems to work fine, but iTuno borks iTune 6.0.2, at least with the miniStore active.

I love UNO but Pathfinder 4 (Finder replacement) basically shuts it off. None of the apps are skinned anymore.

Rats.

No problem's here with Iridium (IMHO a more refined version of UNO) & PF4

Iridium seems to work just fine... but it's so much LIGHTER then UNO. It's just not nearly as appealing.

UNO is the best theme to correct the Apple crap (brushed metal, pinstripes, rounded bottom corners). Iridium is too bright.

I was looking for a way to get rid of the brushed metal too. Apple went a bit overboard with it IMO. The Finder was really just annoying me. I tried to do it myself by modifying the nib files in safari and it worked to an extent but not well enough and I couldn't do the same thing in the Finder.

All I wanted was a Mail-like interface because I think it looks great. I think Apple should burn all the pinstripes and metal in favour of the new look.

Uno worked brilliantly and I applied it to itunes too but all the music lists didn't show so I uninstalled it and it was back to normal - no harm done. The itunes interface is ok anyway. The reason I like it is it doesn't slow down or mess up the system. Clean and easy - just how I like my women.

What I wonder is whether it is possible to apply more than one theme this way. Not that I personally need it because I love the grey theme but maybe other people would like to have different colours. I think Apple should have built something like this into the system.

Excellent job.

Does anyone else think there ought to be a sticky at the top of this forum saying where you get apps to change the OS X GUI? I would never have found Uno had it not been for this thread.

I hope so.
UNO is dependent of ThemePark. And at this time it is not possible (yet) to edit the new resources file.
As soon as this become possible UNO will move forward.
Sorry.

Yep works here too. And after going to the UNO page I noticed there will be a 1.3 version that is "shaded". Wonder when that will be out.

Thanks to Colins Cornabys Extras2Extras2 you can download a Unified Extras2.rsrc here.

Tested on MacBook Pro.

eyecandy, how is the file installed? I assume the original extras.rsrc is overwritten, and then the mod shows up on reboot? Who made/released this mod? Sorry for all the questions, but I've been waiting for something at least this basic for a month now.

I'd still like confirmation on the source of the extras2.rsrc that was just posted. Is it based on Uno, or something else? The file has no kind of readme with it, and the download site gives no clue (of course).

EDIT--I installed the file, and it looks great. It seems to do make a some changes other than just making a unified appearance, but it looks good all around so far. Thanks!

not it not replaces extras.rsrc, it replaces extras2.rsrc (at /system/library/frameworks/carbon.framework/frameworks/hitoolbox.framework/resources/)

the mod (based on one percival posted here) was done about a year ago by myself using themepark. i stopped using it later, when uno became available.

Hum.. because I am the dev?

Thanx you all for your patience, the extra delay on the release is justified for the need to deeply test UNO on Intel machines before public appearing ..

Coolios. Are all the ppats and such converted too?

I converted UNO for my own personal use, but of course text colours and other minor details are a bit 'off' due to the convertor.

Cool thanks for the info. When you said above that it was delayed because of intel testing was that, before or is this now? I can't wait to have the official fully working version, it'll be sweet, thanks for your hard work!

New in UNO 1.3:
  • UNO is now Universal Binary (ready for Intel/PPC architecture based Macs) - thanks to Colin Cornaby for Extras2Extras2.
  • Introduced UNO shade (a slightly darker variation of UNO).
  • New customize panel with live preview (it is now possible to, optionally, assign any variation of UNO and/or the default Aqua UI look to diferent GUI elements. Overall GUI contrast can be achieved by mixing UNO with UNO shade).
  • Added "guifix", a troubleshooting restore option ála ThemeChanger's "tcfix". (If something goes wrong, press "command + s" during boot to enter single user mode and enter "guifix" at prompt. "guifix" will check you disks for errors, fix them if any, restore your GUI files from backup and reboot.)
  • Uninstall should now be fail-proof. Added "Uninstall" in addition to "Restore from Backup".
  • Merged iTuno with UNO (UNO concept is now ONE download).
  • UNO is rebuild against new UI resources file (requires Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later).
  • Changed OS version check method (some Tiger systems upgraded from Panther were being miss identified as 10.3).
  • Added iTunes version check (requires iTunes 6.0.2 or later).
  • Fixed iTunes bottom corners - thanks to Ephica (were a bit jagged).
  • Added compatibility with Firefox 1.5.x and Thunderbird 1.5.x.
  • Refined unified toolbar gradient.
  • Reduced Spotlight and Apple menu items size by 20%.
  • Enhanced UNO integration with Firefox to be more compatible with 3º party themes - thanks to Aronnax.
  • Reduced the slightly dimmed title text on some metal windows (reduced, not fixed).
  • Fixed a tone mismatch between text background and window background (was notorious at iTunes advanced preferences panel; WorkStrip about panel; ...).
  • Fixed a glitch found on metal drawers (a horizontal gradient overlay was present).
  • Added Install, Uninstall, Restore from Backup, Remove guifix and More Info menu items.
  • Other minor installer enhancements.

Amazing, not surprisingly. I'm using it at the moment, and absolutely love it. Well, mostly. I just need to ask if there's any way I can apply this without changing the sizes of the Apple/Spotlight in the taskbar? If not, that's ok, it's still great as it is. Thanks a ton!

OK I mst be a doofus. I downloaded the UNO13.7z.zip file and loaded the 7zX app required to unzip it. I double click the archive which created a UNO13.7z file. Double clicking that opens 7zX then it acts like it's working then just closes. What am I missing?

OK now I've tried opening it on multiple machines wihtout having it work. All this because the file is large? After downloading a system update this should be a worry?

what exactly happens (or not happens)?

i had the problem, that itunes was located inside a subfolder. uno was not able to recognize this. after bringing itunes in to the upper level apps folder, everything worked fine (although is behaviour is new, former uno-versions had no problem)...

As I mentioned I get the 7zX file after double clicking the downloaded zip file. If I double click on it or drag it to the icon, I get the 7zX app to open, it "processes" for a short time, then the app closes. No new UNO installer/file appears in any form.

What was happening was I had an older UNO disc image in the folder where the new one was to be unzipped. There is no visual feedback of what 7zX is doing so it never told me that was a problem. I tried EZ7z and it told me the old one existed and gave me the option of overwriting etc. Apparently 7zX would just quit when it found the old disc image.
