Like the title says, lets see your G5 setup, no closeups of the guts (you've seen one you've seen em all). Lets see how this baby looks on or under your desk!

That's one fine machine. You have to show it's open side though.

BTW, is that a real orchid?

Let the virtual penis size comparison begin!

Don't you think that the official PowerMac picture thread is way better? What do we need a "official" G5 setup picture thread for?

You're the mod, and I agree with you... but OTOH I personally don't have a huge interest in G4 Power Macs anymore.

Look at all that desk realestate you still have there. Why not get a second monitor to go with that nice new G5?

Yeah, why don't you keep your 17" from your old Cube and run dual monitor? You'd just need a DVI-ADC converter.

ie. Remove the lamps on the left. Turn the G5 perpendicular to the wall. (You can then remove the right side panel, leaving the G5 internals exposed.) Move the phone to the table on the right. Stick your old 17" display in between the G5 and the 20" display.

Cuz, think everyone is tired of the G4's and I don't want to click through 6 pages of em to look for a G5. I know I got sick of digging around for some G5 picts in it.

I personally don't like dual monitors, never found much use for them unless I was using Director (or some video apps which I don't really do) and that app is hardly used by anyone these days. I hate cranking my neck back and forth and I already look around on this 20" LCD quite a bit, not that I am complaining though. Plus I want to give the Cube to my sister and I don't think she wants it without the monitor.

Eug. the orchid is fake but it looks super real and real orchid's only bloom 2-3 months a year. Plus, I like the fact that it is in a silver base with black rocks in it

My orchid bloomed for 6 months this year. But then all the flowers fell off and now it looks sad. Until next year...

Your giving away a Cube?

Sell it on eBay to someone who will truly appreciate all the glory that is the Cube, and buy her a Sawtooth with the money.

I'm interested......

Na that's the thing, I can't sell it as I love it so much. It is the best computer I have ever owned.

I will LEND it to my sister with the understanding that one day I might want it back to use as a web reader or something to site on a nice desk of it's own. This baby will be with me till I die and then I want to be buried with it.

I'm the same way with my iMac Rev D. I might lend it to a friend if they come up to school here next year, but it's with the understanding that I still own it... it's odd I think I'd sooner sell my new iBook than my iMac

It's either that or put it next to the heater where it will get toasted (one of my Soundsticks cables got a bit coughcough crisp last winter because of that damn thing).

Genius. Who needs to spend two grand on a 23 inch monitor when you can have 34 inches of space by buying two 17 inchers!

Does OSX support two 20 inchers in millions of colors?

I am about to get a bigger desk and new high-backed office chair- the nights staying up playing Warcraft III (I though I bought this for Photoshop...) are killing my back.

Unfortunatly, the G5 is mostly obscured from view in my desk but I prefer it down there and out of the way.

Muchas gracias guys!

The HP printer is quite nice. Its an 8 color job. I think it prints easily as good as the Canons although the Canons are faster.

The Logitech speakers are great. Only using 2 of the 5 speakers at the moment. Got them hooked up optically. Has built in DTS and Dolby Digital decoding.

Got the desk at Crate and Barrel.

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/itemgroups/14581_0.asp

Pretty much my dream set up. Well, I could have gone with the 23" Cinema but I think the 20" looks slightly better IMO. A bit brighter.

Look forward to posting around here.

Since no-one's asked. Where'd you get the mousepad? Hopefully it's a separate deal from the mouse. I've got a Kensington Wireless Studiomouse and Contour Mini Pro. Those are enough for me. Now just a pad will be needed for the Studio RTA desk I'm getting. The cheesegrater keybaord drawere, I think, won't suffice as an ideal mousing surface.

The mouse pad is a Cooler Master pad made out of aluminum.

You can get it here:

http://phamcomputer.safeshopper.com/36/624.htm?878

I dabble with PC's too. I have a Cooler Master based P4 2.8 rig also.

For gaming only.

I have had Macs before.

My first was a Bondi iMac in 1998.

Then a G4 Tower 400 in 2000

Then a 700 MHZ eMac in 2002

Now the G5 Dualie.

Been considering a Powerbook but will have to wait until next year for that if I do decide. Not sure if I can really justify it.

I just want one.

I like the iSight mount, but I am suprised someone in this thread hasn't given you a hard time for buying something from macmice.com.

I read a few reviews about those aluminum mousepads and how they're bad for an optical mouse because of the reflective surface. Is that true? Have you had any problems with yours?
