** Wasn't sure which forum this was best to be seeing that it's soo old :-) **

Just wondering, has anyone ever listen to one of these Cassette Tapes? I'm going to try and find a player somewhere to have a listen.

Those are the last PowerBooks. You're missing about eight years of history BEFORE the Pismo you have sitting over to the right.

There is a PowerBook 1400c/166 :-) ... may not be the age you are talking but it would be the oldest laptop in the collection :-)

Was going to harass you for not having a Newton, but then what did I spy with my little eye?

Nice collection. Please do digitize the tape if you can.

You should get a Mac II in that collection somewhere.

First color-capable Mac. First expandable Mac, too, and one of only two Mac models to be over twice as fast as the previous top of the line (the other example being the first Power Macs). Man that machine was awesome when it came out (but expensive).

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

History

I have soo many people that come in and out of this Tech. Office and when they spot the collection they love it. Was cool when we had a group of Apple Canada reps. here at the college, they loved it. Not many have such a big collection.

Oh, it’s a tech office. All right, that changes things a bit. I thought this was back in your living room, just to have it. That would have been a bit extreme.

.... was just added a couple months ago. One of the faculty members had one. He came in one day and said ... "your missing something .... a Newton!" The next day back into work I found one sitting on my desk

Ya, I have the image cropped so you don't really see the desks/cubicles. I'll be throwing a page up on my site with all the images so you will really see it then

Yup .... well, Calendar/Calculator to be exact. I have better images of it close up. Will post up once I get them all online.

I have listened to a similar one, when I bought my 512ke in 1986 or 1987. It's actually kind of neat - the tape came with a piece of software called the "Guided Tour", and would narrate the action on screen. "This is the menu bar" and "This is the cursor" and so on.

Just had a look and no guided tour diskette but I have the "Macintosh 512K/800" System Tools Disk, Install Disc and "Tidbits" diskettes.

That's weird. I had a diskette called "Macintosh Guided Tour". That was narrated and did not require a cassette.

Yup .... well, it's a processor but has no significance. Just happen to have it out of a G3 before they were thrown out.

I have 10 Apple computers at home. 11 if you count the iMac at work, since I own that computer myself as well.

2009 Nehalem Mac Pro.
1996 Power Mac 7600/120. (with 300 MHz G3 upgrade card)
2003 Powerbook G4 1 GHz.
2009 MacBook Pro 17 inch.
1994 Macintosh LC 475. (with Apple IIe card)
1993 Macintosh Color Classic. (with Apple IIe card)
1988 Apple IIc Plus.
1986 Apple IIgs.
1984 Apple IIc.
1983 Apple IIe.

To round out my home collection of computers: HP Pavillion Slimline s3330f Multimedia PC (connected to my HDTV) and a small form factor Dell Optiplex that I bought in 2005 for work (since that is what everyone else uses) before Apple switched to Intel chips. Once they switched to Intel I was able to buy an iMac.

Just purchased one of these cassettes on Ebay. Started listening to it, but I am not done yet. Basically, it appears to be a female voice with some annoying music (albeit clear music) in the background as she explains the main features of the Mac Plus. You are supposed to be in front of your computer and manually going through steps while listening to the tape. Listen, stop tape, do function, go back to tape. I got as far as listening to her explain screen icons and an introduction to the mouse. All very funny now, considering how far we have come along with PC's.

It isn't an emulator, its a full Apple IIe on a PDS card. I have a couple of them, one in my LC.
