That's not old school. This is old school:

Politically incorrect, but it's hard not to dance to it. Tonto/Kemosabe/Custer/Apache, click the image and jump on it! Jump on it!

Not really old school nor something to dance to unless you can do the Humpty Dance.

I'll give you extra points if you can remember and tell me what was the hottest track on this album.

Anyone who can't do the Humpty Dance is sad. "Anyone can play this game..."

I guess you're going for LLE, huh?

That's strange. The day before yesterday I downloaded a bunch of old school hip hop to compile a cd.

Heh...these two are (among) my favorites:

Ahhhhh...good times.

Oh, and how could I forget:

A little love for 1988, the best year in rap:

Public Enemy. It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. My favorite P.E.

Boogie Down Productions. By Any Means Necessary. My Philosophy. BDP. KRS.

Eric B. & Rakim, Follow the Leader. The R. Best. Rapper. Ever.

EPMD. Strictly Business.

Slick Rick. The Adventures of Slick Rick. Bedtime Story.

NWA. Strait Outta Compton. F*ck tha Police.

Ice-T. Power. It starts with P like...

Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock. It Takes Two. You said you wanted to dance, right?

All these from one year.

Agreed.

Also from '88:

"Self Destruction" by the Stop the Violence Movement (one of my all-time favorites)
"Ain't No Half Steppin'" by Big Daddy Kane
"Top Billin'" by Audio Two
"Supersonic" by JJ Fad (always good for a laugh)
"Rollin' with Kid 'N Play" by Kid 'N Play (ah, the Kid 'N Play dance... good times, good times)
"Let's Get It Started" by MC Hammer (still the best Hammer song IMO)
"Run's House" by Run DMC
"Get Up Everybody (Get Up)" by Salt-N-Pepa (my favorite of theirs)

Aren't you a little too old to have grown up on those two? I was almost out of high school when "Player's Ball" dropped.

Another album better than the great Licensed to Ill:

It's not old, but for fans of De La Soul and J5 style stuff:

This album is so good. Funny and clever in all the right places, with some great old school beats and a top quality DJ. Everything about this group is good.

Pull out the albums, man! I have a lot of memories associated with these tracks and albums. I used to club and cruise for girls to this stuff. My god, I remember when Freaknik* was in full-effect in Atlanta. Kinda funny that most of my favorite rappers are now in their mid-30s.

*Freaknik was a big party in the middle of Atlanta like Spring Break. It attracted something like 200,000 people at its height. It was shut down because residents hated the traffic and partying in the middle of the city.

I love "White Lines." Probably less than "Apache," but I still love it.

Anyone who doesn't remember/know "DWYCK" doesn't love hip-hop.

I was just thinking, it's funny when people think that groups like Outkast just came out in 2004 or something when they have been out for like 10 years.

Ooh, Das EFX, Black Sheep, Naughty By Nature, De La Soul, all good choices. A couple more shout outs:

Well, LL already got some love. Only appropriate to balance it out. Kool Moe Dee.

If nobody has mentioned Tribe yet, it's a crime.

And thanks to MallyMal for mentioning Digital Underground. Shock G is a very talented guy, and they are so much more than the Humpty Dance.

No prob. I'm a huge fan. "Together Forever" is going to be my wedding song one day. Now that the group's faded into the sunset, I might be able to get them to sing it live.
