I know I've seen something about this posted, but now I cannot find it.

The Menu Bar battery indicator on my iBook 2 has disappeared. Maybe I'm an idiot, but how do I get it back?

Thanks!

Your right - so do you also know what to do if there is a red X over the battery icon in the menu bar? - well I know the battery is not working correct, but how do I troubleshoot if it IS the battery or something els?

It's an "new" iBook 366 Mhz and it doesn't seem to work without the power-plug..

any ideas?

thanx

Check the battery contacts, make sure they're clean and touching the appropriate spots. Whenever that icon appears, it usually means there's no battery in the iBook or your 'Book battery is hosed....

I can't find it (OS X 10.0.4). Do you use a 'public' beta?
When I open the System Prefs, Date & Time and click Menu Bar Clock, the only options I get are

Display the time with seconds

Append AM/PM to the time

Show the day of the week

Flash the time separators

None else.

Maritime Seven -- thanks for bringing up the question. I had the same problem with my iBook, and have been living without it for several days, thinking I screwed up the software somewhere.

IUJHJSDHE -- thanks for the answer!

OreoCookie -- This option only exists in OS 9.x. However, with 10.1, I believe Apple will allow the capability of displaying battery power in the menu bar instead of the Dock...

"Psssst..."

Look in Applications/Dock Extras and drag the battery to the dock

I thought you were talking about OS X. In OS 9 I got the battery symbol in the menu bar.
And in OS X I use the battery dockling, but I thought there was a way to a menu bar battery symbol prior to 10.1.
Thanks anyway.

Unless it was shareware, nope. No menu bar battery indicator until 10.1...
