Hi. After wanting one for years I finally got my first Mac yesterday. I bought a MacBook Pro. Anyways... I downloaded Firefox last night, configured, added all my extensions, etc. Everything was cool. This morning I turned on my MacBook and the Firefox icon has disappeared and I can't find it anywhere.

What the heck is going on?

Thanks

I actually don't think you can run Firefox directly from the mounted disk image, but it sounds like that's what you did. Drag & Drop installation from mounted disk images is something that commonly confuses new users (it is in fact a rather confusing installation method). You need to mount the disk image, drag & drop the Firefox icon into your Applications folder, unmount the disk image, then trash the disk image file.

If you think you installed it correctly, you could try Spotlight to find the Firefox application.

Your profile (including your extensions, etc.) is stored in your home folder, not in the Firefox application itself.

Accidentally running Firefox from the disk image is a very common problem. My father has done it several times, every time there is an update to the program. I've tried to explain to him that you have to install the program by dragging it to the Applications folder, but it doesn't seem to take.
