Safari keeps downloading 2 particular files every time I fire it up. This happens even though there are no pending downloads in the "Download" window. I did download these 2 files successfully about a week ago. I have cleaned /emptied caches, repaired permissions, run Disk Doctor and Cocktail. Any ideas what to do next?

Have you "Reset Safari..."?

What is your home page set to, and what are the names of the files being downloaded?

It is possible that these files are somehow embedded into the page you use as your home page, and that something is wrong with the way the MIME types are being set.

Home Page is set to "Empty Page." In addition, Safari (1.2.4) lauches automatically when I boot up even though it is not a Startup item. Files being automatically downloaded each time are Default Folder and MP3 Trimmer. If I do a Reset will it erase all my bookmarks, cookies, etc. If so, how do I handle?

Default Folder and MP3 Trimmer? I take it you use both of these, but it's still bizarre.

You might want to check your startup items. Although you have not set Safari as a startup item, it is possible that something else which uses Safari might have been set up as one.

Actually I don't use the MP3 Trimmer and deleated all traces of it. Do use DF though. I checked my Startup Items and nothing suspecious is in it. Very weird.

If I do a Reset are my bookmarks/cookies, etc. gone forever? What to do? Thanks!

I don't think that "Reset Safari" kills your bookmarks, but it definitely kills your cookies.

What about the Login control panel? Is it possible that it might be set there?
