They're entire presentation screams IKEA.

I like it, but I don't love it.

I think this would be a bit tighter and higher quality than IKEA. And most definitely more expensive. I get all hot and bothered over stuff like this. I may be sick, but I don't mind.

What would you use for the electric raising and lowering?

Ew.

My desk is a Jerker V1 from IKEA that I got dirt cheap used and absolutely love.

But I don't try to put a little two-inch-high hole in the side and call it "The Slot" and make it into a replacement for a filing cabinet. I have huge amounts of paperwork that I need to access pretty much all the time - that "Slot" is basically useless. It definitely is the Mac of desks, though - make everything look sexy, give it fancy names, and make it out to be far more ingenious than it actually is. The "Top Sets" is an interesting idea, but as soon as you make storage that's flush with the work surface, you pile stuff on top, and you have to move a bunch of crap in order to get to the flush-mounted storage.

It's more a designer piece - not something with real functionality that anyone who does heavy computer work would use...at least not any of the computer powerusers I know.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

The fish tank is the worst idea ever. The rest is cool except for the leg being right in the middle. How the hell do you sit at it without banging your knees or worse crotch?

THIS is the best desk ever IMO.

It is made out of a damn plane wing!

$1400 for a desk?! You've got to be kidding me. Buy a $200 desk and donate the other $1200 to the Peace Corps or something. Seriously.

A+. My boyfriend used a table exactly like that as a desk for several years before I finally convinced him to get something else. Now he's got the folding table as a workbench/second desk and a $100 Staples rolling desk for his main desktop computer.

If you’re willing to pay up front, including shipping, I’m sure they’d have no problem shipping it to you. Would cost you a pretty penny, though, just to have it shipped.

I realy think that's an awful idea. The main leg would get in the way of your knees, and it would not be as stable. A fool and his money are soon parted.

I like the simplicity of it. And I like that it can be used standing up - there's something relaxing about working whilst standing.

A bit of googling brought up folks referencing prices anywhere between $1800-$5000. I have heard the prices have come down since they were first introduced. Still WAY outta my league tho.

I can always dream.

Looks like a table to me.

YAWN.
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

Mine's bigger!

A mate rang me up and asked if I wanted a desk. It's from a telco company - L-shaped, 2 metres x 2 metres, (heavy) steel frame, winds up and down, with cable and powerboard runners within the desk. It cost me $50 (delivered). Furniture removalists hate it.

Check out my cable clutter...

I think that would probably work well. But my point was that it would be difficult to duplicate the desk for $100 when a 250lb actuator on eBay goes for $70 or so.

Sweet. Since I got my iMac I'm all about reducing my cable clutter. I'm almost to where you're at. I just gotta find a good way to hide my speaker cables and such. Wireless keyboard and mouse help the desktop cable clutter go bye bye.

Leg in the middle = teh suck. It looks cool though, I'll give it that.

Coolest desk I've ever seen is a 1950-area Drafters desk my sister got out of a old mill. Made entirely out of steel, all she had to do was attach a new surface (which could be anything your imagination could conjure...epoxy resin maybe?).

It was free and will last another 50 years. Has massive amounts of leg room, big sturdy drawers, and she painted it up and added a brushed aluminum surface for like 30 bucks.

If she loactes another one I will buy it from her.
